review of milltek exhaust system!ive got a 2005 ford focus 2.0 zetec climate but wanted to make it a bit more sporty without having to pay st prices!! So after purchasing a st bodykit of e-bay for £150 i set about with the idea of getting more preformance from the engine.After contacting pumaspeed it was suggested that milltek would like the chance to use my car for testing, so that they could produce a aftermarket exhaust for the mk 2 focus as there wasnt many on the market! After careful consideration i accepted there offer and took a trip over to their workplace in derbyshire.My first impresssions was they were a friendly and proffesional bunch and had obviously done this sort of thing before.It had been decided that a 4-2-1 manifold would be put on along with a sport cat and backbox!A week later and the moment of truth, would my car be any different with the new system in place? Would it ever!! The car is simply superb! The noise it makes alone would have been worth it, but to make things even more special it now has more bhp and tourque and im even getting more mpg!! I couldnt give excact figures without putting it onto a rolling road but in my opinion it has at least a 15% increase in power!For all those focus owners looking for mods that actually work well this is definatly one of them.My next investment will be a pair of cams from pumaspeed and i will let everyone know of the results they give the car later.Many thanks milltek and pumaspeed and keep up yhe good work!!Darren Lapping
‘You’ll find it difficult to match this quality and service!’Between father and sons we have owned loads of fords and have gone through many modifications. My dad recently purchased a Ford Focus 1.6 mk2 and he set about modifying it straight away. As any good sons would we decide to make some phone calls on buying a full sport performance exhaust for our dad. After many “No’s” from various manufactures and no interest in releasing any in the near future we thought we’d give pumaspeed a shot as they had recently released modifications for the new Focus ST. After speaking with Tony @ pumaspeed he also confirmed what other manufactures had said but followed it by asking if we would be interested in piloting the New Milltek Exhaust System. Obviously we said “Yes” and we’ve never looked back since. After a few more phone calls, Tony knowing that we were also looking for more power gains for the Focus told us that he was already looking into producing a new manifold along side the exhaust as well. Once everything was agreed Tony set about arranging everything between all parties involved in his own helpful but no-nonsense manner. Everything was taken care of from a courtesy car, to the finished look of the exhaust and eventually arranged for Milltek to deal direct with us. This made things exceptionally easy and it was just left for us to drop the motor off. On arrival at Milltek the General Manager Dave Marshall greeted us and booked the car in. Dave also took time out to take us around the factory and asked what type of look we were after from the exhaust. He also went on to tell us that the main interests of this development were torque and bhp gains. (Which is always pleasing to hear).After starting work on the Monday Dave called on the Friday to let us know that the car was ready to be picked up (5 days!!!). On arrival the car was placed on the ramps so we could see the work that had been done and the looks and the quality of the craftsmanship were top class.Now the exhaust is on you can notice a clear difference in POWER and PULL in the car and the added of bonus of it looking and sounding great is always a crowd pleaser.MPG has increase we were finding 25-27, we now hit 31 + which is a huge bonus.We’d just like to say a big thanks to:Dave at Milltek for his time, co-operation, quality of the exhaust / manifold and turning it around within 5 days.
